FAQs

Where are you located?

I live, garden and work in Underhill, Vermont, USA. I do not have a brick and mortar store front. You can find my products at local farmers markets and online and at local shops or visit for a workshop or weed walk at my home or at pop up classes throughout New England.

How can I buy products?

You can find my products in my online shop. I stock the shop seasonally with micro batch remedies. You can also catch me at several local markets throughout the year and the occasional festival, fair or pop up shop. You can view my market calendar here. And sign up for my email list for updates on when I might be in your area for an event!

Do you do custom orders?

I do! I have a full herbal apothecary at my fingertips and can create everything from tinctures and teas for specific needs to custom skin and hair care items to personalized gift boxes to pet care products! Many custom orders will require a prior wellness consultation but if it’s a general need, bath or beauty item, tincture or tea for an acute complaint, a gift box request or pet care remedy just send me an email! I might have something that would work already batched up or on hand or we might need to delve deeper!

I need a product for a specific wellness issue, how can I order?

If you’ve browsed the online apothecary and can’t find the tincture or tea that fits your specific needs or are wondering what herbs in particular would be useful for your health you can also ask for a recommendation. A consultation may be necessary to discuss your wellness goals and formulate a unique herbal remedy. You can find out more about my wellness consultations, fees and fill out a request for an appointment here. I also offer mini-consultations with sliding scale fees for acute concerns. Please still fill out the consultation form so we can find a time to chat.

I bought a product from you, how can I order more?

The first place to check is the shop or come visit me at an upcoming market. If it’s not there, then it may be in the process of being restocked. It's always ok to ask but keep in mind that I work with the rhythms of nature and I’m a one-woman business so please have patience while I harvest more herbs, reorder packaging, create the product, label it and get it back into my inventory. The fastest way to get your hands on more of an unlisted product is to add yourself to the waitlist on the product listing page so you can be notified when it’s back in stock or better yet, pre-order via email. Your preorder may help me to purchase packaging, labels or an ingredient I am out of which will get the finished item into your hands faster!

If you haven't seen it updated in awhile, then there is a good chance I’m sold out for the season. In order to be sustainable and in reciprocity with the plants and the earth, I work seasonally and create products and remedies in micro batches. I often only create a dozen or so of a product at a time. In this case, f you are open to a slightly different product or a custom creation using what ingredients are available in the apothecary, please reach out. There is also a chance that it was a limited run or a special batch that won’t be coming back. When the earth is out, I’m out. My best advice is that if you like a product, stock up soon and get some extra for gifts since there might not be more till the following season!

How did you learn herbalism?

I began taking classes and workshops with local herbalists and got hooked! I have studied intensively at

Clearpath School of Herbal Medicine in Western Massachusetts

and Vermont Center of Integrative Herbalism in Vermont.

I also have a rigorous self study practice. I believe in delving into research, studying with various herbal practitioners and peers, attending herbal seminars and conferences and am committed to being a lifelong student of herbalism

Do you offer in person classes?

Yes! It's one of my favorite parts of being an herbalist. I offer lots of classes in Vermont and throughout New England from Plant ID “Weed Walks” to hands on herbalism workshops to plant lectures to an in depth 5 month herbal apprenticeship. You can check out my Events page for upcoming classes and sign up for my newsletter for seasonal updates.

Do you offer online classes?

I currently do not have online class options. I do have a collection of educational downloadable herbal compendiums available for purchase on. my website. You can also find herbal education, recipes and more on my blog or by following me on Instagram!

How can I book you to teach a class/lecture/workshop?

Send me an email! I tend to plan my yearly teaching and event calendar in winter and early spring but you can reach out anytime. I have worked with schools, colleges, botanical gardens and other small businesses to offer educational herbal programs and have many different class offerings to choose from. I also offer private instruction, classes and weed walks!

How do I contact you?

Email is the best way to get in touch with me.

Amber at bohemebotanika@gmail.com

I try to read and respond to messages sent via social media but they often get lost in the shuffle. When you send an email you may get an auto generated away message informing you that it takes me a few days to respond. I am a one woman show and respond to upwards of 30-40 emails and messages a day while single handedly running a business and trying to maintain a work/life balance. Your message is super important to me and I will get back to you as soon as I have time for a thoughtful and proper response. In the meantime, I've tried to address many frequently asked questions here. If you have an inquiry regarding a shop order you placed, you can send a message directly on the order confirmation email and I will get back to you ASAP.

I’m interested in becoming an herbalist, how do I get started?

If you took a class or read a book and got the herbalism bug, my best advice is to start taking classes that interest you with teachers that inspire you! A seasonal apprenticeship like my Wild Folk Herbal Apprenticeship is a great way to give you the foundational tools and empowerment you will need, answer your burning questions and give you a sense of which direction you might want to go with your herbal studies. If you have specific questions or need clarity on how to get started, I’m happy to schedule a consultation time to discuss the plant path with you!

You call yourself a Folk Herbalist, what does that mean?

There is no specific training or certification process for herbalists in the U.S. Most of us have studied under mentors, teachers and taken apprenticeships with our peers to build the skills and experience we need to practice herbalism safely and effectively in this country. There is no true hierarchy or specific titles amongst herbalists but many of us simply associate with different “designations” within the field depending on our training, experience levels and areas of study. Some herbalists use their skillset mostly for themselves and their families and choose to call themselves family herbalists. Some bring their herbal wisdom to their communities via classes, skill sharing and sell products at local markets and may refer to themselves as community herbalists. Other herbalists enjoy formulating scientifically concocted custom teas, tinctures and remedies and working with clients in a one on one setting. They often describe themselves as clinical herbalists. My herbalism is for the people and though all of the above is true of my practice and experience to some extent, my focus is on reconnecting plants and people and interweaving folklore and story and traditional usages of herbs within my teaching and offerings. I prefer to make simple but effective remedies the way my ancestors did so I associate as a folk herbalist. Learn more about my story.

What does Boheme Botanika mean?

My herbalism business name is an homage to my Eastern European ancestry. The little herbal knowledge that was passed down to me was via my maternal grandmother. Her ancestors came from Bohemia, traveling and living in the area now known as modern day Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. Boheme means “of and from the region of Bohemia” and a Bohemian also refers to a person who lives an unconventional, artistic or poetic lifestyle and is often nomadic or having few permanent ties. The word Botanika is a bohemian word meaning botany or the botanical study of plants. The meaning of the word botanica in Spanish and other languages is the term for a small shop (also called an herbaria or herbarium) that may sell herbs, incense, apothecary items, religious items and candles or other items for spiritual use. The essence and etymology of these words embodies my herbal practice.
